Teaching Philosophy

As an elementary educator, I believe learning is most impactful when it is student-driven — where lessons are designed and paced to fit students' needs, and learners take ownership of their goals and accomplishments. I strive to build strong partnerships between the classroom, home, and community, recognizing that meaningful growth happens when we work together. I am passionate about making learning relevant to real life, helping students discover more about themselves and the world around them.

Why I Teach

As a first-generation student and San Jose native, I have experienced firsthand the challenges of growing up in Silicon Valley. I strive to be a supportive guide for my community, helping others navigate the often challenging journey of growing up.
I find joy in learning and strive to instill that same love in my students. Each day, I continue to learn and grow alongside them.
My goal is to help students explore their identity and define their place in the world. I strive to guide them in connecting their heritage, unique experiences, and aspirations.

What I Teach

My instruction is standards-based and data-driven.
I design lesson plans that incorporate students' unique interests and prior knowledge, highlighting real-world connections to make learning meaningful and relevant.

How I Teach

I conduct assessments before, during, and after instruction — using baseline, formative, and summative measures — to track student learning progress.
I design and implement units with long-term goals in mind, utilizing backward planning strategies.
Instruction and content are differentiated to support the whole child, considering student data, background, skill level, learning style, interests, and goals.
